Wood Flat Pallet Market Size in the Middle East
In 2021, the Middle Eastern wood flat pallet market decreased by -0.6% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wood flat pallet production shrank slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 13%. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in the Middle East
For the third consecutive year, the Middle East recorded growth in shipments abroad of flat pallets and pallet collars of wood, which increased by 22% to X units in 2021. Total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +35.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 59%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wood flat pallet exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +56.3% against 2018 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Turkey (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Palestine (X units), together resulting at 89% of total export. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X units), creating a 6.6% share of total exports. Jordan (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Jordan (with a CAGR of +10.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Palestine ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 87% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia and Jordan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.
Among the main exporting countries, Jordan, with a CAGR of +12.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 30% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) and Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while Palestine ($X per unit) and Turkey ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, supplies from abroad of flat pallets and pallet collars of wood increased by 31% to X units for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year declining trend. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 74% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wood flat pallet imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a pronounced increase. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Oman (X units) was the main importer of flat pallets and pallet collars of wood, mixing up 57% of total imports. Turkey (X units) took a 23% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Israel (7.1%), the United Arab Emirates (6.2%) and Saudi Arabia (6%).
Oman was also the fastest-growing in terms of the flat pallets and pallet collars of wood imports, with a CAGR of +20.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+10.5%), Israel (+7.2%) and Turkey (+6.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-14.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Oman (+42 p.p.), Turkey (+4.5 p.p.), Saudi Arabia (+2.5 p.p.) and Israel (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -28.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, the largest wood flat pallet importing markets in the Middle East were Oman ($X), Turkey ($X) and Israel ($X), together accounting for 86% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +12.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a mild decrease. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Saudi Arabia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
