Exports in the Middle East
In 2022, overseas shipments of fork-lift trucks decreased by -9.5% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, showed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 145%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fork-lift truck exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +48.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 77% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Turkey dominates exports structure, accounting for X units, which was near 86% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), generating a 7% share of total exports. Kuwait (X units) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kuwait (+26.7%) and the United Arab Emirates (+9.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +26.7% from 2012-2022. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+2 p.p.) and Kuwait (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Turkey (-3.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest fork-lift truck supplier in the Middle East, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.
In Turkey, fork-lift truck exports increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-0.7% per year) and Kuwait (+21.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, supplies from abroad of fork-lift trucks increased by 24% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after three years of decline. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +78.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, fork-lift truck imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 29%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X units) was the largest importer of fork-lift trucks, achieving 41% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 26% share, followed by Qatar (12%), Israel (6.7%) and Iraq (4.7%). Iran (X units) and Jordan (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +11.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fork-lift trucks in the Middle East, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 13% share.
In Turkey, fork-lift truck imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+7.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-0.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -7.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Iran ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+3.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
