The total production indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +3.0% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the production volume increased by 28%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in the Middle East
In 2022, approx. X tons of glass fibre mats were exported in the Middle East; which is down by -4.3% against 2021. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +2.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 73%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, glass fibre mat exports declined to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +4.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the three major exporters of glass fibre mats, namely the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), creating a 14% share of total exports. The following exporters - Iran (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - each reached a 4.4% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +40.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest glass fibre mat supplying countries in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Bahrain ($X) and Turkey ($X), together accounting for 84% of total exports. Saudi Arabia, Iran and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.
Among the main exporting countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +39.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+5.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, purchases abroad of glass fibre mats decreased by -2.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -4.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, glass fibre mat imports declined to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X tons) represented the main importer of glass fibre mats, making up 47% of total imports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) took a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the United Arab Emirates (15%). The following importers - Qatar (X tons), Oman (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) - together made up 13% of total imports.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the glass fibre mats imports, with a CAGR of +14.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+9.8%), Oman (+9.6%), Bahrain (+4.5%) and Saudi Arabia (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Qatar (-1.0%) and the United Arab Emirates (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey and Oman increased by +28 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported glass fibre mats in the Middle East, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey stood at +11.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (-1.5% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-1.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -10.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a slight reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 29% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
