Overall, consumption, however, showed a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, gravel and crushed stone exports rose markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 297% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Oman (X tons) dominates exports structure, together constituting 93% of total exports. Turkey (X tons), Iraq (X tons) and Palestine (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Palestine (with a CAGR of +26.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest gravel and crushed stone supplying countries in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Oman ($X) and Palestine ($X), together comprising 92% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +25.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 6.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Palestine ($X per ton), while Iraq ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+6.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of gravel and crushed stone, when their volume increased by 6.1% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 179%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, gravel and crushed stone imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 32%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Kuwait (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) represented roughly 86% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), creating an 11% share of total imports. Iraq (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Iraq (with a CAGR of +32.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kuwait ($X), Qatar ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 86% of total imports. Iraq lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 3.9%.
Among the main importing countries, Iraq, with a CAGR of +29.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 4.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
