In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -21.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 79% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Qatar (+16.9%).

In 2022, overseas purchases of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Turkey represented the largest importer of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons in the Middle East, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 47% of total imports in 2022. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 24% share, followed by Saudi Arabia (10%) and Israel (5.6%). Iran (X tons), Iraq (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Iraq (with a CAGR of +20.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons in the Middle East, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey stood at +9.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+0.6% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-2.9% per year).
