The Middle Eastern headphone market rose modestly to $X in 2022, surging by 3.1% against the previous year. In general, consumption continues to indicate a resilient expansion. In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X units) was the key exporter of headphones, achieving 78% of total exports. Israel (X units) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkey (4.8%). Oman (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Oman (+41.8%), Israel (+24.5%) and Turkey (+20.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +41.8% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Israel, Oman and Turkey increased by +9.7, +4 and +3.5 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest headphone supplier in the Middle East, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to +31.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+29.1% per year) and Turkey (+25.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2022, supplies from abroad of headphones decreased by -9% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. In general, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 131% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, headphone imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 66% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the major importing country with an import of around X units, which amounted to 48% of total imports. Iraq (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 13% share, followed by Kuwait (13%), Israel (11%) and Turkey (5.6%). The following importers - Bahrain (X units) and Qatar (X units) - each finished at a 5.9% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to headphone imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at +10.0%. At the same time, Iraq (+43.5%), Kuwait (+30.0%), Qatar (+29.0%), Israel (+16.1%) and Bahrain (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +43.5% from 2012-2022. Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Iraq (+12 p.p.), Kuwait (+10 p.p.), Israel (+3.4 p.p.) and Qatar (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Bahrain (-1.7 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (-8.3 p.p.) and Turkey (-12.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported headphones in the Middle East, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Iraq, with a 9.3% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, headphone imports expanded at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+24.1% per year) and Iraq (+43.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -1.7% against the previous year. Import price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
