By contrast, Kuwait (-6.7%) and Jordan (-14.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (+21 p.p.), Saudi Arabia (+5.4 p.p.) and Iran (+4.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kuwait and Jordan saw its share reduced by -11% and -14.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the largest hydrogen chloride supplier in the Middle East, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 7.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Iran, with a 6% share.

In Saudi Arabia, hydrogen chloride exports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+19.2% per year) and Iran (+15.2% per year).

By contrast, Turkey (-8.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kuwait (+55 p.p.), Syrian Arab Republic (+7 p.p.), Jordan (+6.1 p.p.), Oman (+4.8 p.p.) and Israel (+3.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
