In value terms, imines production soared to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the production volume increased by 1,741%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in the Middle East

In 2021, the amount of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof exported in the Middle East skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 113% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports saw resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 385% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imines exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 313% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Turkey represented the main exporter of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof in the Middle East, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 77% of total exports in 2021. Israel (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by the United Arab Emirates (10%).

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +20.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+39.8%) and Israel (+10.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +39.8% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey and the United Arab Emirates increased by +8 and +7.7 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest imines supplier in the Middle East, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with an 8.2% share of total exports.

In Turkey, imines exports increased at an average annual rate of +20.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+12.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+37.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 4.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 254%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imines Imports

Imports in the Middle East

In 2021, imines imports in the Middle East skyrocketed to X tons, surging by 39% against 2020. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +59.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 51% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, imines imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Turkey represented the main importer of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof in the Middle East, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 42% of total imports in 2021. Saudi Arabia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Iran (X tons), Israel (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons). All these countries together held near 46% share of total imports. The following importers - Oman (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) - together made up 6.6% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to imines imports into Turkey stood at +7.7%. At the same time, Oman (+36.8%), Iraq (+35.1%), Iran (+22.6%), Saudi Arabia (+9.0%) and the United Arab Emirates (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +36.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Israel (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Iran (+10 p.p.), Oman (+3.2 p.p.) and Iraq (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Turkey (-1.5 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (-4.3 p.p.) and Israel (-9.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Iran ($X), Turkey ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 78% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Iran, with a CAGR of +35.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 44% against the previous year. Import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
