The volume of export peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery exports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw measured growth. From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Syrian Arab Republic (with a CAGR of +18.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Iran ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 99% of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +27.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -12.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the export price increased by 65% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Syrian Arab Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 101%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, sugar-manufacturing industrial machinery imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 1,054%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Iran was the largest importer of industrial machinery for the manufacture or preparation of sugar in the Middle East, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was near 61% of total imports in 2022. Turkey (X units) took a 30% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Syrian Arab Republic (5.4%). The United Arab Emirates (X units) took a little share of total imports.

Iran was also the fastest-growing in terms of the industrial machinery for the manufacture or preparation of sugar imports, with a CAGR of +38.3% from 2012 to 2022. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 29% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 6.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Iran amounted to +30.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+11.8% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+14.8% per year).
