In 2021, the Middle Eastern insecticide market decreased by -74.3% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after eight years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a perceptible expansion. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. Exports in the Middle East
In 2021, the amount of insecticides exported in the Middle East contracted to X tons, reducing by -1.9% against the previous year's figure. Total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +2.0% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
In value terms, insecticide exports fell slightly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 57%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Israel (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) dominates exports structure, together mixing up 87% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Jordan (X tons), generating a 5.6% share of total exports. The following exporters - the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) - together made up 5.2% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +10.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest insecticide supplier in the Middle East, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Israel amounted to +14.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+8.1% per year) and Jordan (+2.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Export price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, insecticide export price decreased by -2.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, insecticide imports in the Middle East contracted notably to X tons, with a decrease of -17.6% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports recorded a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 23%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, insecticide imports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), Yemen (X tons), Iraq (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Israel (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Iran (X tons) represented roughly 84% of total imports in 2021. Jordan (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Yemen (with a CAGR of +14.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported insecticides in the Middle East, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey amounted to +2.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Israel (-0.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+4.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 2.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 13%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
