From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, invalid carriage exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 67%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Turkey prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was near 95% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Israel (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) - each amounted to a 3.3% share of total exports.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the invalid carriages not mechanically propelled exports, with a CAGR of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022. The United Arab Emirates (-13.0%) and Israel (-27.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+37 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-4 p.p.) and Israel (-33.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest invalid carriage supplier in the Middle East, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 7.2% share of total exports.
In Turkey, invalid carriage exports increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-22.3% per year) and Israel (-25.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 22%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+2.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, overseas purchases of invalid carriages not mechanically propelled decreased by -25.1% to X units, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, invalid carriage imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 32%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X units), Iraq (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Israel (X units) represented the major importer of invalid carriages not mechanically propelled in the Middle East, achieving 71% of total import. Kuwait (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 5.3% share, followed by Yemen (4.7%). Oman (X units), Qatar (X units) and Iran (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Qatar (with a CAGR of +20.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 60% of total imports. Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, Oman and Iran lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
Yemen, with a CAGR of +19.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, rising by 7.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per unit), while Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Yemen (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
