The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +70.4% against 2015 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, jam, jelly, puree and paste exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 27%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the main exporter of jams, jellies, puree and pastes, achieving 65% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Iran (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Syrian Arab Republic (X tons), together comprising a 27% share of total exports. Lebanon (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Lebanon (+16.7%), the United Arab Emirates (+15.7%), Iran (+12.3%) and Iraq (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lebanon emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +16.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Syrian Arab Republic (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Iran (+5.9 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+3.7 p.p.) and Lebanon (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Turkey and Syrian Arab Republic saw its share reduced by -3.5% and -7.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest jam, jelly, puree and paste supplier in the Middle East, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lebanon ($X), with a 4.5% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 3.7% share.

In Turkey, jam, jelly, puree and paste exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Lebanon (+19.6% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+21.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -10.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 35% against the previous year. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The following importers - Lebanon (X tons), Yemen (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), Jordan (X tons), Qatar (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - together made up 18% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +28.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest jam, jelly, puree and paste importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Israel ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports. Iran, Kuwait, Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Yemen and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

Yemen, with a CAGR of +15.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -11.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 12%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
