In 2021, overseas shipments of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes increased by 115% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports showed buoyant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fruit or nut preserves exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports enjoyed a resilient increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Turkey represented the main exporter of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes in the Middle East, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near 77% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Iran (X tons), generating an 11% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and Lebanon (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +14.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+17.6%), Lebanon (+16.8%), Iran (+14.3%) and Syrian Arab Republic (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +17.6% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey increased by +4.2 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest fruit or nut preserves supplier in the Middle East, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Lebanon ($X), with a 2.4% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 2% share.
In Turkey, fruit or nut preserves exports expanded at an average annual rate of +11.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Lebanon (+19.8% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+22.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, waning by -4.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of jams, marmalades, fruit jellies, fruit or nut purees and pastes were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The countries with the highest levels of fruit or nut preserves imports in 2021 were Turkey (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together accounting for 57% of total import. Iran (X tons) took a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Iraq (7.8%) and Israel (6.8%). Lebanon (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +42.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Israel ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 54% share of total imports. Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +15.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -14.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 12%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
