The following exporters - Iraq (X tons) and Israel (X tons) - each accounted for a 4.2% share of total exports.

Exports from Turkey decreased at an average annual rate of -1.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Israel (+2.4%) and Saudi Arabia (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +2.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Iraq (-17.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+13 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Iraq (-7.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest bovine and equine leather supplier in the Middle East, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 3.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 1.8% share.

In Turkey, bovine and equine leather exports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (-1.4% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-5.4% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
