In value terms, lemon and lime imports reduced notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Iraq represented the major importer of lemons and limes in the Middle East, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 46% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Syrian Arab Republic (X tons), together comprising a 40% share of total imports. Qatar (X tons), Bahrain (X tons) and Oman (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
