Moreover, Syrian Arab Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +30.2% from 2012-2022. Bahrain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Iraq (-5.0%) and Qatar (-38.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Qatar (+12 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+6.4 p.p.), Syrian Arab Republic (+6.3 p.p.), Iran (+4.5 p.p.) and Jordan (+3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Iraq (-1.9 p.p.) and Turkey (-30.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Jordan, with an 8.9% share.
