The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 45%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +36.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Jordan (-15.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Iraq (+6.5 p.p.), Oman (+5.8 p.p.), Qatar (+4.4 p.p.), Syrian Arab Republic (+2.8 p.p.), Kuwait (+2.6 p.p.) and Turkey (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Lebanon (-1.7 p.p.), Iran (-3.4 p.p.) and Jordan (-19.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
