Motor Boat Market Size in the Middle East

In 2021, the Middle Eastern motor boat market increased by 22% to $X, rising for the fifth consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, motor boat production rose markedly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports in the Middle East

Motor boat exports soared to X units in 2021, growing by 47% on the previous year. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 180% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, motor boat exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +69.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 52%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Turkey dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), constituting a 4.8% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X units) and Oman (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Oman (+13.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +13.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-4.1%) and the United Arab Emirates (-19.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+39 p.p.) and Oman (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Saudi Arabia (-1.9 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-30.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest motor boat supplier in the Middle East, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 4.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 0.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey stood at +2.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-8.2% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-20.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, waning by -4.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate mild growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 106% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+14.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East

Motor boat imports soared to X units in 2021, growing by 28% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 124% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, motor boat imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 445% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Qatar dominates imports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 92% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), generating a 6.5% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to motor boat imports into Qatar stood at -15.4%. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+31.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +31.7% from 2012-2021. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+6.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Qatar (-7.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported motor boats and motor yachts, for pleasure or sports in the Middle East, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Qatar ($X), with a 1.1% share of total imports.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 133% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate resilient growth.
