Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 156%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aromatic hydrocarbon mixtures imports contracted notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decline. The United Arab Emirates was the main importer of naphthalene and other aromatic hydrocarbon mixtures in the Middle East, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 56% of total imports in 2022.
