In value terms, needles, catheters, cannulae exports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 41%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, purchases abroad of needles, catheters, cannulae decreased by -6.5% to X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 19%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, needles, catheters, cannulae imports amounted to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Imports by Country
Turkey was the major importer of needles, catheters, cannulae in the Middle East, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was near 36% of total imports in 2021. In terms of the main importing countries, Kuwait, with a CAGR of +11.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 14% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Qatar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+0.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
