In value terms, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk production fell to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

Exports in the Middle East
After three years of decline, overseas shipments of non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk increased by 32% to X litres in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X litres in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Saudi Arabia represented the largest exporter of non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk in the Middle East, with the volume of exports recording X litres, which was approx. 62% of total exports in 2022. Turkey (X litres) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 15% share, followed by Palestine (6.8%), the United Arab Emirates (5.9%) and Israel (4.7%). Lebanon (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk exports from Saudi Arabia stood at +2.2%. At the same time, Israel (+17.4%) and Palestine (+10.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +17.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkey (-1.3%), the United Arab Emirates (-10.1%) and Lebanon (-15.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Saudi Arabia, Palestine and Israel increased by +16, +4.5 and +3.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the largest non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk supplier in the Middle East, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Palestine, with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Saudi Arabia amounted to +5.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (-2.1% per year) and Palestine (+9.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per litre, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 22%. The level of export peaked at $X per litre in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per litre), while Turkey ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+5.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Not Containing Milk
Imports in the Middle East
For the third year in a row, the Middle East recorded decline in purchases abroad of non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk, which decreased by -9.1% to X litres in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 27%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk imports surged to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X litres), Israel (X litres), Jordan (X litres), Turkey (X litres) and Kuwait (X litres) represented roughly 69% of total imports in 2022. Iraq (X litres) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 5.7% share, followed by Bahrain (5%). Oman (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +16.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk importing markets in the Middle East were Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Israel ($X), together comprising 54% of total imports.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +23.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per litre, with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Import price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk import price increased by +91.0% against 2015 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per litre), while Oman ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
