The level of production peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, approx. X tons of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified were exported in the Middle East; waning by -18.4% against the year before. Total exports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -19.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 34%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports shrank to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X tons) represented the largest exporter of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified, committing 54% of total exports. Yemen (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 21% share, followed by Syrian Arab Republic (12%). Saudi Arabia (X tons), Israel (X tons), Iran (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports from Turkey stood at +5.6%. At the same time, Kuwait (+31.6%), Yemen (+10.0%) and Syrian Arab Republic (+9.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +31.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Iran (-5.8%), Saudi Arabia (-7.8%) and Israel (-8.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+10 p.p.), Yemen (+9.6 p.p.), Syrian Arab Republic (+5 p.p.) and Kuwait (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Iran, Israel and Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -3.7%, -7.3% and -8.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified supplier in the Middle East, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Yemen ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 9.2% share.
In Turkey, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Yemen (+5.5% per year) and Israel (-7.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 6.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 7.6% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+2.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Imports of Non-Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified
Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, the amount of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imported in the Middle East shrank to X tons, reducing by -4.8% on the previous year. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 43%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports declined to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 39%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
Saudi Arabia represented the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 65% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Iraq (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together creating a 21% share of total imports. Syrian Arab Republic (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Saudi Arabia increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lebanon (+26.2%), Syrian Arab Republic (+4.8%) and Bahrain (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lebanon emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +26.2% from 2012-2022. Iraq experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-1.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Saudi Arabia (+29 p.p.) and Lebanon (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the United Arab Emirates and Iraq saw its share reduced by -10.4% and -12.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified in the Middle East, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Iraq, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Saudi Arabia totaled +10.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+3.3% per year) and Iraq (-4.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -10.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Syrian Arab Republic ($X per ton), while Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Syrian Arab Republic (+16.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
