Total exports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +58.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Turkey dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 97% of total exports in 2021. The United Arab Emirates (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-domestic dryers exports, with a CAGR of +6.8% from 2012 to 2021. The United Arab Emirates (-11.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+10 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-9.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest non-domestic dryer supplier in the Middle East, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 2.6% share of total exports.

In Turkey, non-domestic dryer exports increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the period from 2012-2021.

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, growing by 8.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight reduction. In 2021, non-domestic dryer imports in the Middle East expanded to X units, increasing by 2.5% against the year before. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 60%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 43%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Turkey represented the key importer of non-domestic dryers in the Middle East, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was near 41% of total imports in 2021. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 22% share, followed by Iran (9.8%), Kuwait (7%) and Iraq (7%). Israel (X units) and Oman (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +22.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Israel ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 55% of total imports. Iran, Kuwait, Iraq and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

Among the main importing countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +14.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 14% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 42%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
