Oat Market Size in the Middle East

The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, oat exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 138%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United Arab Emirates represented the main exporter of oats in the Middle East, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), generating an 11% share of total exports.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest oat supplier in the Middle East, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 5.6% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, declining by -40.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 49%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, oat imports in the Middle East contracted to X tons, which is down by -5.5% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 209% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, oat imports rose sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 147%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) represented the key importer of oats, creating 72% of total imports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Turkey (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 20% share of total imports. The following importers - Yemen (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - each reached a 4.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to oat imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at +15.6%. At the same time, Oman (+16.0%), Turkey (+12.7%), Yemen (+12.5%) and Saudi Arabia (+5.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +16.0% from 2012-2022. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+23 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Saudi Arabia (-7.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest oat importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Yemen ($X), with a combined 85% share of total imports. Turkey and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 10%.
Among the main importing countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +20.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 76% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Yemen ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+3.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
