In 2022, the amount of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine exported in the Middle East fell to X tons, declining by -2.6% on the year before. Over the period under review, exports showed a precipitous shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 56%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, exports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 309%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Turkey was the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 80% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), mixing up an 11% share of total exports. The following exporters - Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - each resulted at an 8% share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine exports, with a CAGR of +15.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+14.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Jordan (-5.1%) and Saudi Arabia (-42.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan increased by +79, +11 and +3.3 percentage points, respectively.

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 8.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 178% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+17.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2022, purchases abroad of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine increased by 11% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +28.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 55%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 106% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Turkey represented the largest importer of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine in the Middle East, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 44% of total imports in 2022. Saudi Arabia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Jordan (X tons) and Iran (X tons). All these countries together took near 44% share of total imports. The following importers - Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and Lebanon (X tons) - together made up 6.6% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine imports into Turkey stood at +5.6%. At the same time, Syrian Arab Republic (+25.1%), the United Arab Emirates (+15.9%), Jordan (+7.9%), Iran (+6.5%), Lebanon (+5.4%) and Saudi Arabia (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Syrian Arab Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +25.1% from 2012-2022. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+7.2 p.p.) and Syrian Arab Republic (+3.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Turkey (-1.6 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (-3.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine in the Middle East, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 13% share.

In Turkey, imports of thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates; thiuram mono-, di- or tetrasulphides; methionine increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, declining by -2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced descent.
