In 2022, the Middle Eastern other agglomerates market increased by 27% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total consumption indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, exports of other agglomerates in the Middle East skyrocketed to X tons, increasing by 86% compared with the previous year. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 187%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, other agglomerates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 173% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Turkey prevails in exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 80% of total exports in 2022. Israel (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 5.1% share, followed by Oman (4.7%). Bahrain (X tons) and Iran (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to other agglomerates exports from Turkey stood at +19.1%. At the same time, Bahrain (+54.7%), Iran (+53.1%) and Oman (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +54.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Israel (-20.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+67 p.p.), Israel (+5.1 p.p.), Bahrain (+4.3 p.p.) and Iran (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest other agglomerates supplier in the Middle East, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bahrain ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 5.6% share.

In Turkey, other agglomerates exports expanded at an average annual rate of +13.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bahrain (+82.4% per year) and Israel (-12.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -9.9% against the previous year. Export price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, other agglomerates export price decreased by -20.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 51%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+17.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2022, overseas purchases of other agglomerates decreased by -14.7% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -30.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of other agglomerates imports in 2022 were Palestine (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Lebanon (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), Qatar (X tons) and Israel (X tons), together reaching 92% of total import. Oman (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +42.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest other agglomerates importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Lebanon ($X) and Qatar ($X), together comprising 60% of total imports. Palestine, Kuwait, Israel and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

Among the main importing countries, Kuwait, with a CAGR of +33.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 16% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Palestine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
