The Middle Eastern pedestrian-controlled tractor market expanded sharply to $X in 2022, picking up by 9% against the previous year. In value terms, pedestrian-controlled tractor production rose remarkably to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -7.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 41%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2021 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in the Middle East
For the third consecutive year, the Middle East recorded growth in shipments abroad of pedestrian-controlled tractors, which increased by 0.2% to X units in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 117% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pedestrian-controlled tractor exports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 83%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Turkey was the main exporter of pedestrian-controlled tractors in the Middle East, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was approx. 52% of total exports in 2022. Kuwait (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Oman (15%) and the United Arab Emirates (9.8%). Iran (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +10.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Oman (+53.0%), Kuwait (+28.7%) and the United Arab Emirates (+7.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +53.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Iran (-37.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey, Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates increased by +45, +19, +15 and +8.1 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) emerged as the largest pedestrian-controlled tractor supplier in the Middle East, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Kuwait, with an 8.4% share.
In Turkey, pedestrian-controlled tractor exports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+13.4% per year) and Kuwait (+24.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, rising by 9.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 32%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+5.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Pedestrian-Controlled Tractor Imports
Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, overseas purchases of pedestrian-controlled tractors were finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2014, thus ending a seven-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pedestrian-controlled tractor imports declined remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 110% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Turkey represented the key importer of pedestrian-controlled tractors in the Middle East, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was approx. 32% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Yemen (X units), Saudi Arabia (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Kuwait (X units), together committing a 54% share of total imports. Oman (X units) and Iran (X units) held a little share of total imports.
Imports into Turkey decreased at an average annual rate of -4.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kuwait (+38.9%), Iran (+11.2%) and Oman (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +38.9% from 2012-2022. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Yemen (-6.5%) and Saudi Arabia (-8.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kuwait (+11 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+4.4 p.p.), Oman (+2.5 p.p.) and Iran (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkey, Yemen and Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -3.8%, -5% and -9.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported pedestrian-controlled tractors in the Middle East, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 7% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 6.8% share.
In Saudi Arabia, pedestrian-controlled tractor imports shrank by an average annual rate of -9.3% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-8.2% per year) and Turkey (-12.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -52.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 115%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while Yemen ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (-0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
