In 2022, the Middle Eastern phosphoric acid market increased by 51% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, phosphoric acid exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 76%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Israel was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 53% of total exports. Jordan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Lebanon (X tons). All these countries together took near 47% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +5.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest phosphoric acid supplying countries in the Middle East were Israel ($X), Jordan ($X) and Lebanon ($X), with a combined 99% share of total exports.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2022, the amount of phosphoric acid and polyphosphoric acids imported in the Middle East dropped to X tons, reducing by -9.7% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 37%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, phosphoric acid imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 39% against the previous year.
