From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Iran (with a CAGR of +29.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest non-cellular polyethylene film supplier in the Middle East, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 13% share.

Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-cellular polyethylene film imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) represented the key importer of non-cellular polyethylene films, sheets, foil and strip, creating 36% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Israel (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Iraq (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 43% share of total imports.
