In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of porous-tipped pens and markers, when their volume increased by 28% to X units. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, porous-tipped pen imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
