In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the largest exporters of potassium sulphate (SOP) in the Middle East, together committing 67% of total exports. Turkey (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an 18% share, followed by Jordan (5.2%) and Iran (4.6%). Israel (X tons) and Lebanon (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Iran (with a CAGR of +37.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 1.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 38%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+8.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in purchases abroad of potassium sulphate (SOP), when their volume increased by 3.2% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 63% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, potassium sulphate (SOP) imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, the largest potassium sulphate (SOP) importing markets in the Middle East were Turkey ($X), Iran ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), together comprising 75% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
