The Middle Eastern room deodorants market declined notably to $X in 2022, which is down by -20.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a strong increase. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms decreased by -19.8% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, room deodorants exports shrank notably to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell markedly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Turkey dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - together made up 8.8% of total exports.
Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms. At the same time, Jordan (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Jordan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +3.7% from 2012-2022. Saudi Arabia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-6.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+6.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -4.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest room deodorants supplier in the Middle East, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 8.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 5.4% share.
In Turkey, room deodorants exports increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-3.5% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+3.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 5.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 8.7%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while Jordan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Jordan (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X tons of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms were imported in the Middle East; shrinking by -6.2% on the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +20.2% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 62%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, room deodorants imports fell to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 28%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) represented the key importers of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms in the Middle East, together amounting to near 60% of total imports. Iraq (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Kuwait (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Israel (X tons). All these countries together took near 25% share of total imports. The following importers - Yemen (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) - each recorded a 6.2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +7.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest room deodorants importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Kuwait ($X), together comprising 63% of total imports.
Kuwait, with a CAGR of +13.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -3.9% against the previous year. Import price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 38%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
