The Middle Eastern printing components market declined significantly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -19.6% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, posted a resilient increase. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, printing components production fell to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 56%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in the Middle East
In 2022, approx. X tons of printing components were exported in the Middle East; with a decrease of -21.8% on the previous year. Total exports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +6.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, printing components exports fell to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +28.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 46%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X tons) represented the main exporter of printing components, making up 81% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), comprising a 12% share of total exports. Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to printing components exports from Turkey stood at +8.6%. At the same time, Bahrain (+49.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +49.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+35 p.p.) and Bahrain (+3.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -11.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest printing components supplier in the Middle East, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 21% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey stood at +10.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+1.0% per year) and Bahrain (+68.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+12.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Printing Components Imports
Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, printing components imports in the Middle East fell remarkably to X tons, which is down by -18.3% on 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, posted temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 49%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, printing components imports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 12%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Palestine represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 70% of total imports. Turkey (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by the United Arab Emirates (5.7%). Iran (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Palestine was also the fastest-growing in terms of the printing components imports, with a CAGR of +12.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Jordan (+11.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Iran experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Turkey (-1.4%), the United Arab Emirates (-4.9%) and Oman (-9.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Palestine (+41 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Iran, Oman, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -2.3%, -5.1%, -7% and -7.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported printing components in the Middle East, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Iran, with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-1.6% per year) and Iran (-3.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 26% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 37%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Palestine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+4.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
