In 2021, the Middle Eastern propellant powders market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a mild reduction. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Exports in the Middle East
In 2021, propellant powders exports in the Middle East skyrocketed to X tons, increasing by 113% against 2020 figures. Overall, exports recorded strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 143% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, propellant powders exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 124% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Kuwait was the major exporter of propellant powders in the Middle East, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 52% of total exports in 2021. Iran (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 31% share, followed by Turkey (16%). Israel (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Iran (with a CAGR of +10.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest propellant powders supplier in the Middle East, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Iran ($X), with a 30% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 5.4% share.
In Turkey, propellant powders exports shrank by an average annual rate of -2.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Iran (+11.8% per year) and Israel (-23.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -11.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 111%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, overseas purchases of propellant powders were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 73%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, propellant powders imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 86%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Israel (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together generating 89% of total imports. The following importers - Oman (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - each resulted at a 9.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Jordan (with a CAGR of +84.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and Oman ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 91% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Jordan and Lebanon, which together accounted for a further 7.3%.
Jordan, with a CAGR of +86.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, growing by 5.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 15%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
