Relay Market Size in the Middle East
In 2022, the Middle Eastern relay market increased by 16% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, showed strong growth. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.
Relay Production in the Middle East
In value terms, relay production dropped to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the production volume increased by 82% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in the Middle East
After three years of decline, shipments abroad of relays increased by 7.9% to X units in 2022. Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, relay exports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +13.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X units) represented the main exporter of relays, constituting 75% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Israel (X units). All these countries together held near 22% share of total exports.
Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+20.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +20.4% from 2012-2022. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey and Israel increased by +12 and +4.2 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest relay supplier in the Middle East, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 16% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey stood at +7.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+23.8% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+3.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, imports of relays in the Middle East rose slightly to X units, picking up by 3.1% against the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a notable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 77%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, relay imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X units) represented the key importer of relays, making up 54% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Iran (X units), Iraq (X units) and Israel (X units). All these countries together held approx. 37% share of total imports. Oman (X units) and Qatar (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Qatar (+22.0%), Oman (+6.3%), Iran (+6.2%), Iraq (+5.8%), the United Arab Emirates (+2.2%) and Israel (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +22.0% from 2012-2022. While the share of Turkey (+4.8 p.p.) and Iran (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Israel (-1.7 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-3.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported relays in the Middle East, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey stood at +5.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+0.3% per year) and Israel (+3.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -8.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 92% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per unit), while Iran ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
