The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted notably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Turkey stood at $X per ton.

In 2021, the amount of rice bran imported in the Middle East contracted markedly to X tons, with a decrease of -27.2% compared with the year before. Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +16.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. Imports by Country

Turkey prevails in imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 82% of total imports in 2021. Oman (X tons) held a 6.3% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Israel (6.1%). The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of rice bran. At the same time, Kuwait (+43.9%), Israel (+28.0%) and the United Arab Emirates (+21.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +43.9% from 2012-2021. Oman experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Israel (+5.4 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+2.9 p.p.) and Kuwait (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkey saw its share reduced by -6.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported rice bran in the Middle East, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Oman ($X), with an 8.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 3.9% share.

In Turkey, rice bran imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Oman (+7.4% per year) and Israel (-3.7% per year).

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 20% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight curtailment. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
