The Middle Eastern sailboat market surged to $X in 2021, growing by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a prominent expansion. In general, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 109%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, sailboat exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 141% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey represented the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which resulted at 46% of total exports. Oman (X units) held a 25% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the United Arab Emirates (9.6%), Lebanon (7.7%) and Israel (5.2%). Kuwait (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Lebanon (with a CAGR of +24.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) emerged as the largest sailboat supplier in the Middle East, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Oman, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey totaled +11.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+9.0% per year) and Oman (+9.2% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 215% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a notable increase. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 10,098% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sailboat imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 393% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Qatar prevails in imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 90% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), constituting a 5.9% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to sailboat imports into Qatar stood at -10.9%.
