Turkey represented the major exporter of sausages and similar products of meat in the Middle East, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. 64% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons), together creating a 29% share of total exports. Palestine (X tons) and Israel (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+28.2%), the United Arab Emirates (+21.3%) and Israel (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +28.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Palestine (-5.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+16 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (+3.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Palestine (-6.1 p.p.) and Turkey (-6.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Palestine ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 85% share of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +24.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -26.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. The following importers - Qatar (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) - each reached an 8.4% share of total imports.
