For the third year in a row, the Middle East recorded growth in overseas shipments of semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs, which increased by 25% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 133%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, semiconductor thyristor exports rose markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports enjoyed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 133% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Turkey was the major exporting country with an export of about X units, which recorded 78% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), making up a 20% share of total exports.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs exports, with a CAGR of +14.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+9.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey increased by +20 percentage points.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest semiconductor thyristor supplier in the Middle East, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 23% share of total exports.

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -10.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 104%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Turkey stood at $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (-3.1%).

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, overseas purchases of semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs increased by 6.5% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, semiconductor thyristor imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 40%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Turkey was the main importer of semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs in the Middle East, with the volume of imports recording X units, which was approx. 68% of total imports in 2022. Israel (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Iran (X units). All these countries together took near 25% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to semiconductor thyristor imports into Turkey stood at +4.1%. At the same time, Israel (+7.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +7.0% from 2012-2022. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 6.9% share.
In Turkey, semiconductor thyristor imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Israel (+2.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-13.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 39%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Iran ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+6.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
