Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 87% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cellulose fibrecement sheet exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 114% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Turkey dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 89% of total exports in 2022. Saudi Arabia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 5.4% share, followed by the United Arab Emirates (5%).

Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of sheets, panels and tiles of cellulose fibrecement. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+87.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +87.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-11.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+12 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (+5.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-10.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest cellulose fibrecement sheet supplier in the Middle East, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 3.8% share of total exports.

In Turkey, cellulose fibrecement sheet exports increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-7.1% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+70.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, growing by 9.7% against the previous year. Export price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of sheets, panels and tiles of cellulose fibrecement, when their volume decreased by -1.3% to X tons. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cellulose fibrecement sheet imports declined to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), distantly followed by Qatar (X tons), Israel (X tons), Iraq (X tons) and Oman (X tons) were the largest importers of sheets, panels and tiles of cellulose fibrecement, together making up 93% of total imports. Kuwait (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Qatar (with a CAGR of +21.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest cellulose fibrecement sheet importing markets in the Middle East were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Iraq ($X) and Israel ($X), with a combined 66% share of total imports.

Iraq, with a CAGR of +22.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iraq (+8.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
