In 2021, after three years of decline, there was growth in the Middle Eastern skis market, when its value increased by 0.9% to $X. In general, consumption, however, showed a abrupt decrease. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, exports of skis for winter sports in the Middle East soared to X tons, growing by 17% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 329% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, skis exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 461% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

The biggest shipments were from the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together amounting to 97% of total export.
The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the skis for winter sports exports, with a CAGR of +52.4% from 2012 to 2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates increased by +37 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) also remains the largest skis supplier in the Middle East.

Export Prices by Country
The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 4.1% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, skis export price increased by +13.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 34%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2021, approx. X tons of skis for winter sports were imported in the Middle East; increasing by 55% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, skis imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable downturn. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Turkey represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 68% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Iran (9.1%). Kuwait (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to skis imports into Turkey stood at -1.0%. At the same time, Kuwait (+9.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +9.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Israel (-1.5%), Qatar (-5.8%), the United Arab Emirates (-7.7%) and Iran (-9.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey and Kuwait increased by +19 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported skis for winter sports in the Middle East, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Iran, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey totaled -1.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-2.5% per year) and Iran (-7.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -17.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 18%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell significantly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
