In 2021, the Middle Eastern sleeping bag market decreased by -18.4% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. Overall, consumption recorded a slight slump. Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the sleeping bags exports, with a CAGR of +14.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. In 2021, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, rising by 5.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. In 2021, purchases abroad of sleeping bags decreased by -14.3% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports recorded a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sleeping bag imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 25%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Syrian Arab Republic (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units), Israel (X units) and Turkey (X units) represented roughly 82% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Qatar (X units), constituting a 4.8% share of total imports. The following importers - Kuwait (X units) and Iraq (X units) - each amounted to a 7.6% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Syrian Arab Republic (with a CAGR of +49.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Israel ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Syrian Arab Republic ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 42% share of total imports.

Syrian Arab Republic, with a CAGR of +52.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Import price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, sleeping bag import price increased by +71.7% against 2018 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
