Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X litres in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, grape wine spirits exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 140% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X litres) represented the main exporter of spirits obtained from distilled grape wine or grape marc in the Middle East, creating 97% of total export.
The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the spirits obtained from distilled grape wine or grape marc exports, with a CAGR of +15.6% from 2012 to 2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates increased by +4.5 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) also remains the largest grape wine spirits supplier in the Middle East.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, imports of spirits obtained from distilled grape wine or grape marc in the Middle East shrank remarkably to X litres, waning by -21.6% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 127% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X litres, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, grape wine spirits imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 171%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates was the key importing country with an import of about X litres, which finished at 66% of total imports. Israel (X litres) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkey (8.2%) and Qatar (7%). The following importers - Bahrain (X litres) and Oman (X litres) - together made up 5.5% of total imports.
Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Qatar (+21.0%), Israel (+18.8%), Turkey (+15.6%) and Bahrain (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +21.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Oman (-1.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Israel (+6 p.p.), Qatar (+4.1 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+2.9 p.p.) and Turkey (+2.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Bahrain (-3.8 p.p.) and Oman (-4.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported spirits obtained from distilled grape wine or grape marc in the Middle East, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to +11.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Israel (+21.9% per year) and Turkey (+13.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per litre in 2022, which is down by -8.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 19% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per litre in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per litre), while Qatar ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
