In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest starter motor supplier in the Middle East, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 19% share.

In Turkey, starter motor exports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+12.9% per year) and Jordan (+73.5% per year).

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Turkey (X units) were the major importers of starter motors and dual purpose starter generators in the Middle East, together accounting for approx. 68% of total imports. Jordan (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 6.7% share, followed by Iran (6.4%) and Iraq (4.6%). The following importers - Qatar (X units) and Oman (X units) - each reached a 7.2% share of total imports.

The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Qatar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
