Exports by Country

Turkey dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 80% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Bahrain (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons), together comprising a 15% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the stranded wire, ropes and cables exports, with a CAGR of +10.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Saudi Arabia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Bahrain (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest stranded wire supplier in the Middle East, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bahrain ($X), with a 6.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 4.8% share.

In Turkey, stranded wire exports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bahrain (-10.3% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+8.8% per year).

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), distantly followed by Iraq (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Israel (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Iran (X tons) were the largest importers of stranded wire, ropes and cables, together mixing up 89% of total imports.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Iraq (+1.1%) and Israel (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +1.1% from 2012-2021. Turkey and Qatar experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Oman (-2.2%), Kuwait (-6.4%), Iran (-8.6%) and Saudi Arabia (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+7.9 p.p.), Iraq (+3.7 p.p.), Turkey (+2.6 p.p.) and Israel (+2.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kuwait (-2.2 p.p.), Iran (-3.3 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (-11.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Iraq ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 51% of total imports. Israel, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Iran and Qatar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

Israel, with a CAGR of +7.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
