Syringe Market Size in the Middle East
The Middle Eastern syringe market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after two years of decline. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, syringe production totaled $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -10.8% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 37%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in the Middle East
After two years of growth, overseas shipments of syringes, with or without needles decreased by -21% to X units in 2022. Total exports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +87.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 82%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, syringe exports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 88% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
Turkey was the key exporter of syringes, with or without needles in the Middle East, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was approx. 52% of total exports in 2022. Israel (X units) held a 31% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the United Arab Emirates (13%). Jordan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +41.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest syringe supplier in the Middle East, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 6.4% share.
In Israel, syringe exports increased at an average annual rate of +37.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+2.3% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+5.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 7.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 97% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Jordan (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the Middle East
In 2022, purchases abroad of syringes, with or without needles was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, syringe imports shrank to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Turkey (X units), Yemen (X units) and Iraq (X units) represented the main importer of syringes, with or without needles in the Middle East, creating 56% of total import. It was distantly followed by Iran (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Israel (X units), together mixing up a 27% share of total imports. Syrian Arab Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Yemen (with a CAGR of +2.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest syringe importing markets in the Middle East were Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and Iran ($X), with a combined 44% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Iraq and Syrian Arab Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
Yemen, with a CAGR of +5.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -10.6% against the previous year. Import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, syringe import price increased by +35.7% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Syrian Arab Republic (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
