The Middle Eastern table knife market reduced markedly to $X in 2022, waning by -15.2% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a buoyant expansion. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.

Exports in the Middle East

In 2022, the amount of table knives exported in the Middle East soared to X units, rising by 24% compared with 2021 figures. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 87%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, table knife exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +53.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 37%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Turkey represented the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which accounted for 80% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), comprising a 15% share of total exports. Bahrain (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the table knives exports, with a CAGR of +7.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Bahrain (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+10 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -2.3% and -6.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest table knife supplier in the Middle East, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.

In Turkey, table knife exports increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-6.0% per year) and Bahrain (+3.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 6.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 51%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2022, imports of table knives in the Middle East expanded markedly to X units, increasing by 13% compared with 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +22.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, table knife imports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Israel (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Iraq (X units) was the largest importer of table knives in the Middle East, committing 63% of total import. Turkey (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Qatar (X units) and Iran (X units). All these countries together took near 25% share of total imports. Lebanon (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Iraq (with a CAGR of +25.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Israel ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 62% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Iraq, Qatar, Iran and Lebanon, which together accounted for a further 29%.

Among the main importing countries, Iraq, with a CAGR of +23.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per unit in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
