The Middle Eastern table linen market declined to $X in 2022, dropping by -6.9% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of table linen, knitted or crocheted decreased by -15.5% to X tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, table linen exports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Turkey dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Syrian Arab Republic (X tons), comprising a 5.9% share of total exports. The following exporters - Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) - each resulted at a 4.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to table linen exports from Turkey stood at +1.6%. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+18.1%) and Syrian Arab Republic (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +18.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-7.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Saudi Arabia increased by +1.8 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest table linen supplier in the Middle East, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Syrian Arab Republic ($X), with a 2.2% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 1.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Syrian Arab Republic (-1.7% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-5.3% per year).

The export price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 16%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Syrian Arab Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Table linen imports fell to X tons in 2022, which is down by -4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 25%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, table linen imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Israel (X tons), distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Iraq (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) represented the largest importers of table linen, knitted or crocheted, together comprising 79% of total imports. The following importers - Kuwait (X tons), Iran (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Jordan (X tons), Lebanon (X tons), Bahrain (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - together made up 18% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Bahrain (with a CAGR of +7.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Israel ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Iraq ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 70% share of total imports. Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, Jordan, Iran, Lebanon, Bahrain and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Qatar, with a CAGR of +6.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 23%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
