From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Turkey represented the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 50% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons), together creating a 42% share of total exports. Jordan (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+18.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +18.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-2.5%), Jordan (-12.0%) and Bahrain (-16.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey and Saudi Arabia increased by +23 and +14 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the largest prepared additives for cements supplying countries in the Middle East were Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), with a combined 88% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +15.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, growing by 6.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 21%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while Bahrain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in the Middle East

In 2022, purchases abroad of prepared additives for cements, mortars or concretes decreased by -1.4% to X tons, falling for the seventh consecutive year after four years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 17%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, prepared additives for cements imports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the six major importers of prepared additives for cements, mortars or concretes, namely Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Iraq and Turkey, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Israel, with a CAGR of +7.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 32% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
