In value terms, orange juice (single strength) exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 350%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Saudi Arabia represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which resulted at 48% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Israel (X tons), together constituting a 45% share of total exports. Turkey (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Saudi Arabia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the orange juice (single strength) exports, with a CAGR of +21.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kuwait (+12.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (+6.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Bahrain (-3.4%), Israel (-3.5%) and Turkey (-10.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Saudi Arabia (+35 p.p.) and Kuwait (+5.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Bahrain (-4.9 p.p.), Israel (-17.1 p.p.) and Turkey (-18.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) remains the largest orange juice (single strength) supplier in the Middle East, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Saudi Arabia amounted to +21.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+3.6% per year) and Israel (-1.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the Middle East amounted to $X per ton, surging by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of orange juice (single strength), when their volume decreased by -22.1% to X tons. In general, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 287%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, orange juice (single strength) imports fell sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 134%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Oman (X tons) was the largest importer of orange juice (single strength), generating 66% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Iraq (X tons), together constituting a 24% share of total imports. The following importers - Bahrain (X tons), Iran (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) - each recorded a 5.8% share of total imports.
Imports into Oman increased at an average annual rate of +55.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+72.1%), Iran (+9.2%), the United Arab Emirates (+8.7%) and Yemen (+8.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of +72.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Bahrain (-10.8%) and Iraq (-27.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Oman, Israel and the United Arab Emirates increased by +65, +11 and +6.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Oman ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported orange juice (single strength) in the Middle East, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 13% share.
In Oman, orange juice (single strength) imports expanded at an average annual rate of +46.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+71.5% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+8.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the Middle East stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -2.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a mild increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iraq (+7.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
